Gurdjieff Foundation Toronto
Take the understanding of the East and the knowledge of the West -- and then seek.
-- G.I. Gurdjieff
The Gurdjieff Work is neither a religious nor a philosophical teaching, It is a practical study addressing the deepest questions about the sense and meaning of my life, a study undertaken with others not by withdrawal but in the midst of life.

The Gurdjieff Foundation: The Society for Traditional Studies, founded in 1954, is one of the oldest Gurdjieff groups in North America, and the first in Canada. The Traditional Studies Press is its publishing house.
~
For over thirty years, the work of this group was guided by Mrs. Louise Welch and Dr. William Welch of the New York Foundation. They worked directly with Mr. Gurdjieff and Mme de Salzmann and were able to transmit the oral teachings at the heart of the Work.

Mr. Gurdjieff also left us his written works, his music and Sacred Dances (the Movements). The Society for Traditional Studies continues today to offer opportunities to experience all of these forms of the teaching.
~
Rather than accepting his teaching simply on faith, Gurdjieff asked that we verify his ideas by our own experience and proposed practical methods for our work together. We do this through discussion groups, Movements, music, meditation, crafts and the study of Gurdjieff's system of ideas.
